Powerchair Football Club Championship 2018 Day 4 Recap

Coming into Day 4 of competition, the top 4 had already been finalised and Melbourne City were sitting 7th on the table. The team is still learning their strengths and weaknesses, mainly their positioning on court and we took today as an opportunity to try new combinations. The team is focusing on building up their skills and took their time experimenting with different tactics throughout the day.

Because of this, we decided to play Josh, Shaun and Luke up forward, so that they could practice their passing. This change saw many goal opportunities and a more equal match between the two teams. We alternated Michael and Daniel in our back line. This is a position the two players are interested in moving to next season. Although many goals were lost, the positioning on court had improved leaps and bounds. With our defenders blocking the ball out of the goal box on kick ins and our offenders swinging the ball across our offensive box.

This is the style we’d like to play in future competitions. The players talked more, moved more and passed more accurately.

Final scores:
Melbourne City 0-5 Western Sydney Wanderers
Melbourne City 0-8 Newcastle Jets
