Melbourne City Powerchair Team
Melbourne City FC was established in 2015 and competes in the Victorian Powerchair League which is facilitated by Powerchair Sports Victoria. The Victorian Powerchair League is running from February to July in 2022.
Powerchair Football is a competitive team sport designed and developed specifically for powerchair / electric wheelchair users. These participants include persons with quadriplegia, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, head trauma, stroke, spinal cord injury and other disabilities. Powerchair Football combines the skill of the wheelchair user with the speed and power of the chair itself. The sport is played on an indoor basketball court. Two teams of four power chair users attack, defend, and spin-kick a 13-inch (33cm) soccer ball in an attempt to score goals.
Our club welcome all ages, all genders and all abilities to join us. You can keep up-to-date with the teams activities on our Facebook page.

How to get involved
We welcome all ages, all genders, all cultures and all abilities to join us. We have spare equipment waiting for new players, including specialised football chairs or we can fit ‘bumpers’ to standard day chairs. You can try powerchair football before deciding if you want to compete.
We host fortnightly training sessions on a Tuesday (5pm – 7pm) in Bentleigh East which are open to anyone to attend. Our matchdays are in Parkville on Sundays and anyone who might be interested in playing or supporting the team can come and participate.
We encourage anyone interested in knowing more to come along to one of our events or to a round of powerchair football to understand what its all about.
