MCY Powerchair Football Team Recruiting!

Melbourne City Powerchair Team will be recruiting new players and volunteers for the Senior and Development squads.

Powerchair football is a unique sport that provides opportunities for people with a varying levels of ability to access the game we all love, football.

New players will have the opportunity to learn about the sport, the skills, rules and what it takes to compete at any level of competition. Sessions will take place at the Aquahub on Victorian Powerchair Premier League match days and trainings hosted by Victorian Electric Wheelchair Sports Association (VEWSA).

Powerchair football is fast paced, dynamic and exciting to watch. The unique nature of the powerchair football allows all ages, disabilities and any gender to compete together. Playing powerchair football extends beyond just having fun and competing, it helps build key life skills such as leadership, teamwork and communication. We have excellent athletes already involved who have plenty of experience with mentoring others.

The team hosts social events and competes in interstate competitions throughout the year. Powerchair football is played all around the world, with a world cup held every four years and national competitions being held every year in different states across Australia. The opportunities will continue to grow as powerchair football becomes more recognised and supported.

Being involved in powerchair football isn’t just about the sporting opportunities, it also creates social opportunities for the athletes, their families, friends and our supporters to experience the highs and lows of participating in the world’s most favourite sport.

The first session will take place on July 7. However, the team will be scouting other areas around the state and if there is interest, we are happy to travel out to an area closer to you. The dates listed below are sessions held at Aquahub, Croydon starting at 1pm.
