A big encounter for the playoff for third position, Perth Glory taking on Brisbane City.
The first few minutes of the game were even balanced with play edging more into the City attacking half. Bryce Castles was going at it with Perth’s Abdullah Karim, their one-on-one duel creating open space as they moved around the court. It was in this space City’s Jessie McCarthy found himself free with the ball passing strongly to Luke Alderton who sent the shot in on goal to open the scoring.
After the half time break, both teams would continue to engage in an intense battle going box to box either neither able to gain an advantage. With three minutes to go, the scoreboard became one sided as Jessie McCarthy placed the corner kick straight to the top of the box where Luke Alderton shot truly. The two paired up to duplicate their first scoring effort, Alderton with his brace giving Brisbane City a two goal lead in the final minutes.
That’s how it would remain City recording at 2-0 result to take home third place.
