Summary
The play off for 9th position was an all-Brisbane affair with the Strikers taking on new comers Lions FC.
Two evenly matched teams who know each other very well and encouraged by loud and positive supporters on the benches and in the grandstand.
Tristam Peters was the first to score giving Lions FC the upper hand. Equalising for Strikers was big character Darcy Clews who went big on the attack scoring his teams first. Lions would take the lead before the break when Tristram Peters setup Zac Burley for his first of the Championship.
After the half time break, both teams returned to the court with Strikers needing to force the draw. With scores level and there being no extra time or penalties they would finish 9th being the higher ranked team after the group stage. It was however the Lions who roared with Zac Burley setting up Tom Byrne who also scored his first goal of the Championship.
That’s how it would finish, a 3-1 win to Lions FC who secured 9th position.
